A filled quantity and a net balance movement can be different numbers

Reconcile supplied execution and fee fields in their own units before adding any optional Canadian-dollar reporting layer.

Read the execution quantity and fee asset as separate fields

A trade record can report a filled quantity, a commission amount and the asset used for that commission. Preserve all three. A commission in the base asset has a different quantity effect from a commission in the quote asset or another token.

The cited account/trade schema illustrates those distinct fields. It does not establish your fee schedule, the meaning of every venue’s balance export or the treatment of a particular transaction. Check the source convention before interpreting the sign or calling an amount net.

Work through a fictional incoming-quantity model

Suppose a teaching buy record supplies gross incoming quantity 2 COIN and a fee of 0.002 COIN deducted from that incoming amount. Under this explicit convention, net incoming quantity is 1.998 COIN. Subtracting a fee expressed in a different asset from the coin quantity would mix units.

Work through a fictional incoming-quantity model
Fictional movement modelQuantity arithmeticModel result
Incoming 2 COIN, fee deducted in COIN2 - 0.0021.998 COIN received
Outgoing 2 COIN plus separate COIN fee2 + 0.0022.002 COIN outflow
Fee in another assetSeparate asset rowNo cross-unit subtraction

An outgoing ledger needs its own stated convention

For a separate invented example, assume a gross outgoing movement of 2 COIN with an additional fee of 0.002 COIN taken from the same holding. Total outflow is then 2.002 COIN. This is not a universal definition of a reported sell quantity; a venue might already include the charge in a particular exported field.

Do not apply both conventions to one row or deduct the same fee twice. Keep the execution identifier and movement reference beside each line. A matching amount is useful for reconciliation but does not by itself prove that two exports describe the same event.

Put CAD valuation after the asset reconciliation

A Canadian reporting view can value a net coin quantity in CAD, but that conversion is a separate operation. Retain the supplied price, currency direction, timestamp and source. Do not treat a stablecoin fee as an equal CAD amount merely because its ticker resembles a dollar unit.

A current valuation also cannot establish the value at an earlier execution time. Keep original quantities and any historical valuation evidence intact. This guide calculates neither a tax result nor an independently authenticated account profit.

A useful reconciliation retains the unresolved difference

Compare the modelled movement with the supplied balance change only when their asset, interval and scope match. Other trades, transfers or fees in the same interval can explain a difference. List those missing movements instead of forcing the balance to agree by changing the fee sign.

Finish with gross quantity, fee amount and asset, the stated sign convention, conditional net movement and the evidence still required. The arithmetic is a fictional unit exercise, not an actual execution receipt or a claim about the linked offer’s trading performance.

The optional link below leads to this site's separate crypto signals and Telegram updates offer. The record method is usable without that offer. It does not independently verify the offer, establish country eligibility or turn the teaching example into an actual transaction.
